A bit about us... if you're interested
A bit about us... if you're interested
We’re an Australian company that started in 2023, and since then, we’ve grown entirely through word of mouth – mostly because doctors who tried Lyrebird found it useful and shared it with their colleagues. That’s something we’re really grateful for.
More recently, that organic growth has led us to the UK, where we’ve realised that documentation challenges aren’t just an issue in Australia – they’re just as significant here, if not more.
When we built the first version of Lyrebird, it was a simple prototype – functional, but far from perfect. We put it in front of doctors early on to get their feedback, and then we improved it based on what they actually needed. That’s been our approach ever since: listen, refine, and keep building something that genuinely helps.
We don’t spend much time on aggressive marketing because we believe that if we focus on solving a real problem well, the rest takes care of itself.
We take privacy seriously. Everything processed through Lyrebird is handled with care. The audio from a consultation is transcribed in real-time, meaning there’s no lingering recording of the patient’s voice. The transcript is then de-identified before we run it through an AI model, carefully selected based on the consultation type.
Most importantly:
We never sell your personal data.
We never sell data related to your patients or consultations.
We don’t use any data to train AI models.
Lyrebird exists to help, not to exploit. That’s the standard we hold ourselves to.
We don’t charge more than we need to. Our goal has always been to build something that makes your life easier, not to squeeze every last dollar out of you.
If Lyrebird saves you just one hour per week, over the course of a year, that adds up to an entire working week saved. The time you get back is worth far more than the cost of a subscription – not just financially, but in the impact it has on your patients and the healthcare system as a whole.
That’s why we do this. If we can help clinicians spend less time on paperwork and more time with patients or their family, then we’re making a difference where it matters most.
Now for the fun stuff, this is fairly structured in order of how you'll naturally discover the platform, but feel free to jump around as need be.

Connecting your microphone
It's really easy to connect your microphone to Lyrebird.
The microphone built into your device should work well enough, but if you need to buy a microphone, you can search online for an omni-directional long distance microphone or see if these options are available near you:
Blue Yeti X (more expensive)
Audio Technica ATR4697 (smaller & cheaper)
For those moving around, any 'lapel' microphone will work
