How to Use the Mental Health Care Plan Workflow in Best Practice

The new Mental Health Care Plan workflow streamlines the process for GPs to create Mental Health Care Plans, integrate the DASS-21 assessment, and save everything directly to Best Practice (Bp). This guide will walk you through the steps to use this feature effectively.

What does this do?

The workflow helps automate time-consuming documentation for Mental Health Care Plans. It detects when mental health plans are discussed during a consultation and offers tools to:

  • Complete a DASS-21 assessment during or after the consult.

  • Generate pre-filled Mental Health Care Plan templates and referral letters.

  • Save all documentation directly to Bp Correspondence Out without manual copying or pasting.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Start the Mental Health Care Plan Workflow

    1. Lyrebird will detect when a Mental Health Care Plan is being discussed during a consult and prompt you to start the documentation.

    2. Alternatively, you can manually start the workflow from the new Workflow menu in the Notepad.

  2. Complete the DASS-21 Assessment

    1. Send the DASS-21 assessment to the patient to complete on their mobile device, or complete it with the patient on your computer during the consult

    2. Once finished, the DASS results will be calculated and written back to the Notepad and the Bp patient file.

  3. Generate the Mental Health Care Plan and Referral Letter

    1. At the conclusion of the consult, a Mental Health Care Plan document will be automatically generated.

    2. The template will pre-fill with relevant details from the patient’s Bp file and the consult.

    3. If a referral letter is required, it will also be generated automatically.

  4. Review and Save the Documentation

    1. Review the generated Mental Health Care Plan and referral letter.

    2. The completed documents are saved directly to Bp Correspondence Out as RTF files – no need for copy-pasting.

    3. Refresh the patient file in Bp (press F5) to view the saved documents.

Tips for Best Results

  • Ensure your Lyrebird integration is updated to access the Workflow menu in the Notepad.

  • Regularly refresh Bp to confirm saved documents are accessible in Correspondence Out.

  • Use the manual start option if Lyrebird doesn’t automatically detect the discussion.
