What are Macros?
Macros are a quick way to add information using shortcuts.
If you find yourself repeatedly typing out the same words, phrases, or instructions in your documents, a macro is a great way to save yourself time. Macros are also known as pre-fills, text expanders or shortcuts in other applications.
Create a Macro
Create your Macro through the "Macros" tab in the "Customise" page.
1. Go to the "Customise" page
2. Go to the "Macros" tab
3. Click "Create macro" and add your "Macro name" and "Macro" content
4. Click "Create macro" to add the macro
You can also create one inside the notes or documents, see the ‘Extra Tip!’ below.
Use a Macro
Macros can be used in consult notes, consult documents, or dictated documents.
1. Type a forward slash "/" into the notes or documents and begin typing the Macro name
2.Select the Macro
Select your preferred Macro through clicking on it.
If you do not see your preferred Macro, try typing a few letters of the Macro's title until the preferred Macro appears.
Edit a Macro
Edit or update your Macros through the "Macros" tab in the "Customise" page.
1. Go to the "Customise" page
2. Go to the "Macros" tab
3. Select the Macro you would like to edit, and update the "Macro name" and / or the "Macro content"
4. Click "Update" to save the changes
Extra Tip!
Creating a macro from your notes
If Lyrebird writes a phrase that you really like, you can create a macro from it directly in the text editor.
1. Highlight the phrase you want to create a macro from
2. Right click and select "+ Create macro"
3. Type in the macro name, then click create
