Our new Health Assessment workflows are designed to streamline how nurses and doctors collaboratively complete MBS-eligible assessments. These workflows support co-completion, enabling both clinicians and nursing staff to efficiently capture, review, and finalise assessment data within their normal consultation flow.
Direct Data Entry: Nurses can enter structured data directly into the Health Assessment form. This input is automatically combined with transcription data to generate a pre-filled assessment draft.
Doctor Review: GPs can then open the pre-filled form, review it with the patient, and finalise the document with any additional clinical notes or updates from the consultation.
This integrated approach reduces manual data handling, improves accuracy, and ensures that the final documentation is both complete and MBS-compliant.

How it works: What Happens When a Nurse Opens a Patient Record
Step 1: Patient Context
Lyrebird activates automatically in the background when a nurse opens a patient file in Bp Premier.
Step 2: Eligibility Check
Lyrebird evaluates the patient’s eligibility for MBS Health Assessments, based on their demographics, medical history, and Medicare criteria.
If your practice uses Cubiko, the eligible Health Assessments and Care Plans will also be displayed automatically.
Step 3: Workflow Launch
If the patient is eligible:
The nurse or GP can click the ‘L’ icon in Bp Premier to launch Lyrebird.
A simplified Health Assessment interface opens with the relevant forms, fields, and billing guidance already configured.
The nurse can then select the appropriate Health Assessment type.
Step 4: Co-Completion with the Patient
The nurse begins the consultation, working through each section of the Health Assessment.
Lyrebird listens to the conversation and auto-fills relevant sections of the assessment as the discussion progresses.Structured data from Bp Premier (such as patient details, medical/social history, medical conditions, and medications) is automatically pulled through.
The interface clearly shows progress through each section, allowing the nurse to review or skip as needed.
Step 5: Complete & Generate Draft
When the consultation is complete:
The nurse clicks ‘Stop Listening’ in Lyrebird.
Lyrebird generates consult notes and a pre-filled draft of the Health Assessment.
Sections marked with a green tick indicate data automatically captured or transcribed.
The nurse can review, edit, and optionally add a handover note for the GP.
Step 6: Doctor Review & Finalisation
The GP opens the patient file in Bp Premier and re-launches Lyrebird. They will see the pre-filled Health Assessment ready for review before starting the consult.
The GP can discuss the content with the patient, make any updates, and finalise the document when ready.
Lyrebird will save the completed assessment back into Bp Premier, ensuring accurate clinical records and correct billing for the relevant MBS item.
FAQs
How is the nurse workflow different from the doctor workflow?
The nurse initiates the Health Assessment, confirming eligibility, gathering patient information, and generating a pre-filled draft in Lyrebird. The doctor then reviews the draft with the patient, adds clinical notes or updates, and finalises the assessment for billing. Nurses focus on data collection, while doctors handle clinical review and sign-off.
Where are the Health Assessments saved in Bp Premier?
The Health Assessments will be saved in the Correspondence Out section after the doctor has clicked 'Save to Bp' in Lyrebird. If they cannot see that, they can refresh the patient file in Bp Premier (press F5) to view the saved documents.
