What is AI Edit?
AI Edit lets you adjust a generated note without rewriting it yourself. You describe the change in plain English and Lyrebird rewrites the note for you.
You can change the whole note, or just one part of it by naming or pasting that part in your instruction. For example, you can refine the Plan without changing the Subjective or Objective sections.
How do I use AI Edit?
Generate a note from a consult.
Find the AI edit bar under your note. Example instructions appear underneath it.
To change just one part, paste that line or section into the bar or describe it (e.g. "the plan"). Leave it out to change the whole note.
Type your instruction in plain language.
Click the arrow to send it.
Your edited note opens in a new tab (e.g. "Multiple Complaints 2"). Your earlier version stays in its own tab.

AI can make mistakes. Check the edited note carefully before you use or save it.
⚠️ Heads up
Each AI edit uses an action, and so does Refresh note. On the Free plan you have a limited number of actions each month, and they reset on the 1st of each month. Pro is unlimited. See Plan comparison: which plan is right for you?

Tips for better AI Edit results
Be specific. "Make it better" is too vague. "Shorten the subjective to two sentences" is clear.
Target one section at a time. Naming one section in your instruction gives more predictable results than a broad instruction for the whole note.
Go back if needed. If the result isn't what you expected, click the earlier tab, then try a more specific instruction.
Fix small details by hand. AI Edit is best for structural or stylistic changes. To correct a single word, number or medication name, edit the text directly.
🛑 Important
To remove a version you don't want, click the × on its tab, then Confirm. This deletes that version for good and can't be undone.
Comparing your edited note with the original
There's no side-by-side compare view. Because each AI edit and each Refresh note opens a new tab, you can switch between versions instead.
Changes you type into the note stay in that tab. They aren't carried into new versions.
To get a fresh version to compare against, click Refresh note (top right). Lyrebird writes the note again from the recording, so its wording and detail may differ from your original, not just from your edits.
Does Lyrebird learn from my edits?
No. An edit you make once won't be applied to future notes. If you make the same change to every note, add it to your note template as an instruction instead, and keep AI Edit for one-off changes. See Customising your note templates.
Where is AI Edit available?
You can use AI Edit on any note or document created from a Consult, including consults you reopen from History. It works the same way in the web app and in Best Practice. AI Edit isn't available on notes or documents created on the Dictate page.
