AI Edit : how to refine your notes

Use AI Edit to make targeted changes to a generated note using plain language instructions.

What is AI Edit?

AI Edit lets you improve or adjust a generated note without manually rewriting it yourself. Instead of editing the text word by word, you describe the change you want in plain English and Lyrebird rewrites the relevant section for you.

AI Edit works on individual sections of a note, so you can refine the Plan without affecting the Subjective or Objective sections, for example.

How to use AI Edit?

  1. Generate a note from a consult or dictation

  2. The "AI edit" search bar will appear, you will also see some examples or shortcuts of what you can ask. This is how you make any general changes to your document without having to edit it manually!

  3. Select the section of the note you want to change, or leave it unselected to apply the instruction to the whole note

  4. Type your instruction in plain language

  5. Click Apply

  6. Review the result and accept or undo the change

Example instructions that work well

What you want to change

Example instruction

Shorten a section

"Make the plan more concise"

Expand a section

"Add more detail to the assessment"

Change the tone

"Rewrite this in a more formal clinical tone"

Add a missing element

"Add a medication review to the plan"

Restructure content

"Move the examination findings before the history"

Fix an inaccuracy

"Change the blood pressure reading to 130 over 85"

Reformat a section

"Present the medications as a numbered list"

Tips for better AI Edit results

Be specific. The more clearly you describe what you want, the better the result. "Make it better" is too vague. "Shorten the subjective to two sentences" is clear.

Target one section at a time. Applying AI Edit to a specific section produces more predictable results than applying a broad instruction to the entire note.

Undo if needed. If the result is not what you expected, click Undo to revert to the previous version and try a more specific instruction.

Combine AI Edit with manual editing. AI Edit is best for structural or stylistic changes. For specific factual corrections like a wrong medication name, editing the text directly is quicker.

When to use AI Edit vs manual editing

Use AI Edit when...

Use manual editing when...

You want to restructure or rewrite a whole section
