Setting up Lyrebird for your practice

A step-by-step guide for practice managers setting up Lyrebird for their team.

This guide is for practice managers and administrators. If you are setting up a personal Lyrebird account, see Getting started with Lyrebird instead.

What you'll need before you start

View the video to learn all about setting up an organisation in Lyrebird.

Step 1: Create your organisation

  1. Sign in to Lyrebird at app.lyrebirdhealth.com

  2. Navigate to SettingsOrganisation

  3. Click Create Organisation and enter your practice name

  4. Your account becomes the organisation admin, you can manage users, billing, and settings from here

Step 2: Invite your clinicians

  1. Go to SettingsOrganisationManage

  2. Click Invite User and enter the clinician's email address

  3. Select their role: Clinician (full clinical access) or Admin (clinical access plus user and settings management)

  4. Click Send Invite

The clinician will receive an email invitation to join your organisation. Invitations expire after 7 days, resend if needed from the Users panel.

Step 3: Set organisation-wide defaults

Organisation admins can set default templates and settings that apply to all users in the practice, saving each clinician from configuring Lyrebird from scratch.

  1. Go to SettingsOrganisationPreferences

  2. Configure the default Note storage period (24 hours, 7 days, 14 days, upto 6 months)

Individual clinicians can override these defaults in their personal settings at any time if the restrict user changes preference is set to "OFF".

Step 4: Connect your EMR integration

If your practice uses Bp Premier, Gentu or Genie, connect the integration now so clinicians have it available from their first session.

NOTE: EMR integrations for Bp Premier are configured per-device. Each clinician's workstation will need to be set up individually using the relevant integration guide.

Step 5: Set up the Type Pool (if using typists)

If your practice uses medical typists to review or edit notes, you can invite them to your organisation's Type Pool. See the Type Pool guide for full setup instructions.

Step 6: Brief your team

Before clinicians use Lyrebird with real patients, make sure they have:

  • ✅ Read the Getting started guide

  • ✅ Connected and tested their microphone

  • ✅ Completed a test consult without a patient present

  • ✅ A process for obtaining patient consent

  • ✅ Access to the help centre at help.lyrebirdhealth.com
