Lyrebird and Cubiko Integration for MBS Codes

FAQs on the Lyrebird and Cubiko Integration for MBS Codes

Updated this week

How does Lyrebird help me with MBS billing codes and eligibility?

Lyrebird integrates seamlessly with Best Practice and Cubiko to bring you eligible MBS billing codes and patient entitlements directly into your workflow.

This information, generated by Cubiko's powerful analytics, helps you ensure you're claiming all the revenue you're entitled to for chronic disease management plan.

What is Lyrebird's role in identifying eligible MBS codes?

Lyrebird surfaces the eligible MBS codes and patient entitlements that are provided by Cubiko. The complex eligibility checks and "magic behind the scenes" to determine what a patient is eligible for are entirely performed by Cubiko. Lyrebird acts as the display mechanism for this valuable information within your workflow.

Does Lyrebird automatically link the suggested MBS codes to my consult or generate the claim?

No, Lyrebird currently only displays the MBS codes provided by Cubiko.

These codes are not automatically linked to the consult or used to generate claims within Lyrebird. The clinician remains responsible for ensuring they complete all the correct steps and documentation required for each item, and for adding the final MBS item to the patient's record in their practice management system.

Why am I not seeing MBS codes in Lyrebird?

The MBS code eligibility feature relies on your clinic having an active Cubiko subscription and proper setup. Specifically, you need to ensure:

1. Your clinic has Cubiko set up.

2. You have Care Prompts configured within Cubiko (note: this may not be part of Cubiko's base package).

3. Your clinic's billing is set up correctly in Best Practice.

4. For "confirmed" codes, your clinic also needs to have Quickcheck configured within Cubiko.

Where can I find more information about Cubiko Care Prompts?

You can access the comprehensive knowledge base for Cubiko Care Prompts directly here.

I have Cubiko and Best Practice, but I still don't see MBS codes in Lyrebird. What should I check?

First, check your appointment notes in Best Practice. You should see entries that look something like this: (Cubiko item eligibility - Confirmed MHTP; Possible 10997, 75+ HA).

If you do not see this information populated in your appointment notes, it indicates that the issue likely lies with your Cubiko or Best Practice configuration, rather than with Lyrebird.

In this case, it is best to direct your query to Cubiko support, as your Best Practice system may not be configured correctly to send this data.

Is Cubiko's Care Prompts feature included with my standard Cubiko subscription?

Care Prompts is an additional feature within Cubiko and may not be part of the base Cubiko package. Please check your Cubiko subscription details or contact Cubiko directly for clarification on this.

What is "Quickcheck" and why is it needed for "confirmed" MBS codes?

Quickcheck is a specific Cubiko configuration that enables the verification of MBS eligibility. If your clinic has Quickcheck set up, Cubiko can provide "confirmed" MBS codes, meaning the patient's eligibility has been verified through Medicare. Without Quickcheck, Lyrebird will only be able to display "possible" codes as identified by Cubiko.

I've noticed that for patients with multiple appointments in a single day, the MBS codes displayed in Lyrebird don't seem to update for subsequent appointments. Is this expected?

Yes, this is a current technical limitation. Lyrebird is currently designed to fetch and display the billing codes associated with only the patient's first appointment of the day. If a patient has multiple appointments and the eligible billing codes change for a later appointment, this will not be reflected in Lyrebird at this time. We are aware of this limitation.

Can Lyrebird automatically write the suggested MBS codes directly into the "Items to Bill" section in Best Practice?

No, currently, Lyrebird does not support writing the suggested MBS codes directly back to the "Items to Bill" section in Best Practice.

The codes displayed within Lyrebird are read-only. Clinicians will need to manually select and enter the appropriate billing items into Best Practice themselves based on the information provided. We understand the convenience of this feature and will evaluate its possibility for future development.
